Three things decide it: how recent the CCJ is, your deposit, and what else is on your file. Two taps show how many of our lenders may consider a case like yours. No credit search, no email needed for that part.
Our lenders look back anywhere from 6 months to 6 years. Two and three years are the common lines, so a CCJ that passes those dates opens more doors.
Deposit matters as much as dates. For a CCJ on its own, moving from under 10% to 25% or more at least doubles the panel in every recency band.
A CCJ on its own is the easiest case. Defaults, arrears or a payday loan in the same window shrink the panel; the dates decide by how much.
The answer appears as soon as you have tapped twice.
1. When was the CCJ registered?
Lenders on our panel whose published criteria may consider a residential mortgage with a CCJ as the only item on file, by the age of the CCJ and your deposit or equity. "7+" means at least seven, taking the worst case inside the band. Tick anything else in the check above and it recalculates for your file.
| CCJ age | Under 10% | 10 to 15% | 15 to 25% | 25%+ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Under 12 months | 2+ | 2+ | 4+ | 7+ |
| 1 to 2 years | 4+ | 4+ | 6+ | 10+ |
| 2 to 3 years | 4+ | 4+ | 7+ | 11+ |
| Over 3 years | 4+ | 4+ | 8+ | 11+ |
Who you are dealing with
A small team of employed advisers in Portishead, Bristol, directly authorised by the FCA and placing adverse credit cases with specialist lenders every week. Not a call centre, not a lead farm: the adviser who reads your answers is the one who replies.
No. Nothing on this page touches your credit file, and nothing goes to a lender until you tell us to. We work from your own free report first, so you know what a lender will see before they see it.
Some of our lenders insist on it. More will consider a CCJ either way, usually with a limit on the amount still outstanding, and several ignore small CCJs altogether. Paying it before you apply usually widens the panel; your adviser will say by how much for your dates.
Each lender sets its own window, anywhere from 6 months to 6 years, with 2 and 3 years the common lines. Under 12 months is the narrowest band, not a closed door, and a larger deposit does part of the work the dates would otherwise do.
What matters is how many fall inside the lender's window and their total value. Some lenders accept one, others two or three, and the oldest ones often drop out of view. The dates on your report settle it.
A decline from a high street lender tells us little about the specialist lenders who write this business every day. What matters is the dates, the amounts and what else is on the file, which is exactly what the two taps and your report tell us.
£99 for the research, £99 at application and a completion fee agreed with you in advance. Nothing is charged until you ask us to start. Rates come in writing once we know which lender fits, because a number without the lender behind it would mislead you.
